Urn With Flower Lid
This lidded vessel is made from 100% merino wool with silk embellishments. Although this urn was conceived as a sculptural piece, it is also appropriate for use as a burial urn. Wool has long been accepted as an environmentally positive fibre choice with a number of benefits, such as being 100% natural, renewable, and biodegradable. Biodegradable urns will break down gently in the earth or in water. This is an area I want to explore more.

When Many Work As One: SYNERGY - the interaction of two or more pieces to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. I was overwhelmed with thoughts and ideas when I began this piece. I knew I had to just start! I used a meditative and playful way of repetition to create many pinch pots. As I made the pieces they began to evolve. Each is similar but different, encouraging the viewer to look inside. Individual pieces have Velcro on the bottom so you can arrange them in different ways.

"The Lore of Stones Dyptych: Granite - Symbol of Strength and Durability" 48"x30"
I’ve always been fascinated by the colors, textures, shapes and mystical qualities of stones. Maybe that’s what inspired me to create the series “The Lore of Stones” in felt. This diptych focuses on the strength and durability of granite. The “stones” travel from one plane to the other, sharing their space and journey. Remembering some things and researching more, I decided to incorporate some of the lore into this series of wall pieces. The organic quality of the felt backgrounds with lots of texture seemed like great place to start.

One of my felt pieces was in "Felt, the Australian magazine for felting and more" Issue 19. You've probably seen the piece in some form or other as it was conceived and made. Now it has been recognized in the article "Felt United - Collaboration" Thanks to Donna Gates at Salmon Falls Gallery for collaborating.
